What happens after I sign up?
When you sign up, you will get a confirmation notice on your screen. A link on this page will take you to the newsletter's web site, via the Visionation login page. When you get to the login page, just use the nickname and password that you just chose to access the web site.
You will also be emailed two items: the most recent issue of the newsletter and a confirmation notice containing your nickname and password. You should receive these within 24 hours.
If you can not log in to the web site, then you may be mistyping your nickname and/or password. If you are sure you are typing it correctly on the login screen, it is possible that you mistyped when you originally subscribed; you may want to wait for your email registration confirmation notice, so you can see if you mistyped anything during the sign up process. If all your typing seems correct, but you are still having problems, please e-mail our Customer Service department.
If you do not receive your newsletter and/or your confirmation notice within 24 hours, then you may have mistyped your email address, or there may be some other problem. E-mail our Customer Service department.
If you want to unsubscribe (or just changed your mind about subscribing) after you receive your first newsletter, you can use the 'opt-out' link at the bottom of your email registration confirmation, or you can use the 'To Unsubscribe' link at the bottom of the newsletter. If neither of these work for some reason, contact our Customer Service department.
Choosing a nickname
This is to identify you when you are logged into our web site. The nickname can contain from one to twenty characters. Acceptable characters include letters, numbers, dashes, periods, and underscores. Spaces, commas, and odd punctuation characters (e.g., !, #, $, %, ^, &, *, etc.) are not allowed.
Your nickname must be unique among all the nicknames in our database. If you try to use a common nickname, like 'John', you will probably find that someone else has already claimed it. Adding a number at the end of your nickname can often help to make it unique. Longer nicknames also have a better chance of being unique.
Choosing a password
Your password must be at least six characters and no more than twenty characters. Acceptable characters include letters, numbers, dashes, periods, and underscores. Spaces, commas, and odd punctuation characters (e.g., !, #, $, %, ^, &, *, etc.) are not allowed.
Supplying your email address
We need it to send you the newsletter. Your email address can be up to 80 characters long. Acceptable characters include letters, numbers, dashes, periods, and underscores. Spaces, commas, and odd punctuation characters (e.g., !, #, $, %, ^, &, *, etc.) are not allowed.
If you know you are typing your email address correctly, but you get the message 'Sorry, the given email address is already taken.', the most likely reason is that you are already a Visionation member. There are two scenarios here:
1) You signed up for this (or another) newsletter in the past with a different nickname or password. You are now trying to add this newsletter to your account, but you are supplying a different nickname and/or password than the ones in our records. To add newsletters to your account, you must use the nickname and password that corresponds to your email address. If you have forgotten your nickname and/or password, you can Get Your Nickname and Password by Email
2) You signed up for this newsletter during one of our promotions somewhere on the Internet. When this happens, you will receive your registration confirmation notice as much as one week later. Because of the registration delay, a member can forget that he or she is already signed up, end up going to the sign up page, and try to sign up again. In this case, don't try to sign up again. Most of our sign up pages have a 'Members Login' button on the left side of the page, which will take you to the web site's home page. Alternatively, you can use the web site home page link in the registration confirmation email, or any of the links on the newsletter itself.
The mysterious 'Who referred you?' field
We believe in growing our business by 'word-of-mouth'. So we like to reward current members when they bring us new members. One way that we do this is to give Visionation 'points' to members that refer new members to us. These points help members qualify for prizes and promotions.
If you are a new member and you are subscribing because a current member told you about this newsletter, give us his or her Visionation nickname, so they can earn extra points. If you don't know his or her Visionation nickname, just ask them for it. Once you are a member, you can get extra points too when you tell someone else to sign up!
This field is optional. If no one referred you, just make sure it is blank when you submit your registration.
I signed up, but I never received anything!
There are three ways this can happen.
If you mistype your email address when you register, we can't send you your newsletter, you will never receive your nickname and password email confirmation, and we have no way to reach you to tell you to fix your email address. Please double check your email address by logging into the web site and using the 'My Page' link found at the bottom of every page.
If your mailbox is already full when we try to send you your newsletters, they will bounce back to Visionation and you won't receive them. A few bounces don't matter, but, if this happens 5 times in a row, you will be automatically unsubscribed from our newsletter. Make sure to clear out your mailbox, so that you can receive your newsletters as normal.
Sometimes, Internet problems can result in the loss of mail, but this usually has to be a long-term problem to affect your subscription permanently. Occasionally, e-mail can take a few days to reach you due to intermittent connectivity problems and the retry schedules of various mail servers.
Who is Visionation?
Visionation is the publisher of this newsletter and over forty other newsletters on topics that include sports, pets, hobbies, music, and more. Go to our main web site to learn more about Visionation, browse our other publications, or learn about authoring or advertising possibilities.
Signing up for a second newsletter
If you already subscribe to one of our many newsletters and you are trying to sign up for another, simply make sure to use your current nickname, password, and email address. The new newsletter will be added to your account.
If you forget your nickname or password
If you forget your nickname or password -- and we all do from time to time -- go to our Get Your Nickname and Password by Email.
If you have changed your email address AND forgotten your nickname and password, you will have to contact our Customer Service department.
If your email address has changed or will change
Just log in to the website as you normally do. Then click the 'My Page' link, which is at the bottom of just about every page. This will take you to a page which has a link at the bottom to access your personal information. Click this link and you will get a page where you can update your email address, change your password, change your email format (HTML or TEXT) and edit other personal information.
If you have changed your email address AND forgotten your nickname and password, you will have to contact our Customer Service department.
